Higher education
The Government's student support scheme is administered through Student Finance Direct (SFD). The County Council's Student Finance Service is the local office.
Important note: Administration of student support for higher education students is being progressively transferred to a new national provider - Student Finance England. Student finance for all applicants beginning their courses from September 2009 onwards will be dealt with by Student Finance England, not by the County Council's Student Finance Service.
If you are starting your course after 1 September 2009, please go to www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance for further information.
If you are already in receipt of support before September 2009, your application will continue to be dealt with by the County Council's Student Finance Service until the end of your course or March 2011, whichever is the sooner.
Support in Higher Education
Courses of Higher Education are: Degrees, Higher National Diplomas, Diplomas in Higher Education, Post Graduate Certificate Courses in Education, University Foundation Degrees and some dance and drama courses.
The financial support available depends on when you start your course.

If you started before 1 September 2006:
