Before we built this website, we asked young people looked after what they would want from it. They had lots of ideas - read on to see which ones made it onto the site.

We want lots of fun things like games

OK, one young person has found some great web links for you to enjoy. We’ve done more surfing since then and we’ll keep putting new fun links up.

If you would like to add a link and review a website please fill and return in the downloadable contact us form [MS Word 34KB] word logo .

We want to be able to get information when we need it

You can find the guide to being looked after created by theChildren and Young People's Service on the site. It should tell you what you should expect.

We’ve also tried to make sure that you can get help with everything from homework, coping with problems, to sports and hobbies. Just in case that isn’t enough we’ve also put in a link to the contact number for the Children and Young People's Service.

We want to be able to chat to other young people looked after

Sorry we haven’t managed this one yet. But it’s not been forgotten about and in the future we think it will be possible.

But we do still want you to be able to hear what other young people looked after think. We want stories, opinions and articles, and if you are looked after by Nottinghamshire County Council we’ll pay you for your views, if we can use them on the site.

We want stories and articles about other people who grew up away from their families

You got it! There's lots more trivia to come so keep checking back!

There are also some things we wanted to make sure you could see

We wanted you to have the chance to watch and see what gets done about the things you say. Download a contact us form [MS Word 34KB] word logo and use it to have your say.

You will need MS Word to download this file.  If you do not have MS Word, you can download it from plug-ins and viewers.

Whatever happens you won’t be ignored, managers may not always do what you expect but they will look at what you say and include young people’s views more and more in the way things are run.

If this all sounds too good to be true, you can watch it happening for yourself by checking out the After Care Team’s responses to what young people said about leaving care.
