Financial Support
Special arrangements for under 18s
If you are 16 or 17 and you're a care leaver, we have a legal responsibility to support you financially. This means we will pay your rent (as long as it is reasonable) and a personal allowance for your living costs.
If you go to college, you can receive a regular weekly allowance as an incentive payment.
All these payments will go straight into your bank account, so you'll need to set one up as soon as possible.
Your rent will be paid directly into your landlord's bank account so you'll need details about that as well.
Your aftercare social worker can help you.
Home Establishment Grant
You can have a Home Establishment Grant when you leave care to help you set up home. This can buy carpets, furniture and so on.

One-off costs
You may have to pay for a work uniform or college equipment, or things like driving lessons and leisure activities. There may be other things as well. We can help to pay for these.
