What are our ten improvement priorities for Nottinghamshire?

We have a table to show our ten improvement priorities and how they will help children and young people progress towards the Every Child Matters outcomes.

It also shows which priorities relate to the Nottinghamshire Local Area Agreement (LAA) and to our Joint Commissioning Framework (JCF).

Protect the most vulnerable children and young people

Improve educational attainment (how well children and young people achieve at school)

Reduce the numbers of children and young people missing school

Increase the proportion of sixteen to eighteen year olds who are learning or working, focusing particularly on vulnerable groups

Provide children and young people with more places to go and things to do

Reduce the amount of crimes committed by young people and stop children and young people from being as scared about becoming victims of crime

Reduce the problems caused by drugs and alcohol for children, young people, families and communities

Improve the emotional well-being of children, young people and families

Reduce obesity among children and young people

Improve the sexual health of young people and reduce teenage pregnancy

When children and young people are not achieving their potential it is often because they face many difficulties, so they may need support from several different organisations. To make sure that we achieve our improvement priorities, our organisations will work in partnership. We are already developing our partnership working in many ways. These are described in Section four.

Section five of this Plan covers the action we will take to achieve our ten improvement priorities. To achieve these improvement priorities, we will need to focus our work on those children and young people that we know are less likely to do well, while continuing to provide high quality services for all children, young people and families.

Our Vision

We will work together to provide integrated services for all children and young people in Nottinghamshire to improve their life chances and to help them maximise their potential.
