School meals and milk
Milk is free for all pupils up to the age of five and at a reduced rate for all 5-7 year olds in nursery and infant schools. It is also subsidised for all pupils in special schools.
If you receive the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit, an income based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), an income-related employment and support allowance (this benefit will be introduced from 27 October 2008), income support, Asylum Seeker’s Support or Child Tax Credit (providing you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual income, as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), does not exceed £15,575) you can get free meals and milk for your child. Once in full-time education they will get either a free two-course meal or items of an equivalent value if there is a cash cafeteria service.
