Moving House
If you move house within Nottinghamshire and you wish your child to stay at their current school, they may do so although you may not be eligible for help with any transport costs. It is important, therefore, that you consider transport to school and check your entitlement.
If you move house during the school year and you want to change your child's school, further information and an application form is available to download [PDF 110KB].
Please note that moving into the catchment area of a school will not guarantee your child a place at that school.
Transferring School
If you are thinking about changing your child's school you should first speak to your child's head teacher. If, after a discussion with the head teacher, you feel that a transfer is the best option, further information and an application form is available to download [PDF 110KB].
Places are approved by the Local Authority for community and controlled schools, and the governing body for academy, voluntary aided and foundation schools.
If your request is refused the Local Authority will write and tell you why and give you information about how to appeal. Inclusion on a school’s waiting list does not mean a place will eventually become available.
Waiting lists are held for Nottinghamshire community and voluntary controlled schools for admissions to intake years only. For admission in September 2012, waiting lists will be held until 31 December 2012. However, some voluntary aided, foundation, trust and academy schools may hold waiting lists for different periods of time. You should check with the school for details.
We do not hold waiting lists for community and voluntary controlled schools for in-year applications.
