In 2003 - 2004, Nottinghamshire County Council was awarded Beacon status for a wide range of services aimed at helping local people find work.  These services are particularly aimed at those who find it hard to access employment.

Some of the specific services linked to the Beacon theme include:

  • Intermediate Labour Market - programmes aimed at providing training, work experience and jobsearch for the long-term unemployed
  • Adult and Community Learning Service - raising aspiration and achievement by providing learning opportunities in local communities for all ages
  • Training Partnership - training opportunities for 16-24 year olds including apprenticeships, Entry to Employment and specialist help for young people with special needs
  • Connect Call Centre Project - an employer-led training initiative, established to respond to the growing number of opportunities in this service sector
  • Supported Employment Programme - helping people with disabilities into unsupported employment
  • Care Leaver Programme - support for young people in care to help them move into further education or employment
  • Business and the economy - working with our partners to promote a local economy where skills, wage levels and enterprise match or exceed national averages.
