The Heads Count steering group felt strongly that newly appointed headteachers would benefit from the support of a more experienced headteacher whose only agenda was to be available to the other as the need arises. These are called peer supporters.

There are a number of other sources of one to one support for new headteachers and the different roles can be confusing. Below is a table explaining the differences in the support available to new headteachers.
