I want to adopt a child who knows me

You may want to adopt a child who is your step-child and has been living with you for at least six months.

Photo of father and daughterThe leaflet ‘You and Your Step Family’ tells you all you need to know about the options. You can get a copy from the fostering team that covers the area you live in.

You may want to adopt a child who is related to you or privately fostered by you, and has been living with you for at least three of the last five years.

You may want to adopt a child who is not related to you but who has lived with you for at least 12 months.

You can get a copy of the leaflet ‘Part of the Family’ from the fostering team that covers the area you live in.

Note: If the child you are interested in adopting is looked after by Nottinghamshire County Council, please contact the child's social worker.
