Learning Skills and Employment
Learning Skills and Employment aims to support the development of skills needed for the future workforce and provide opportunities for personal growth and quality of life. The team’s services contribute to the economy of Nottinghamshire and to the development of a learning culture. Learning Skills and Employment works to a number of key local and national agendas, including Life long Learning, Social Inclusion and Welfare to Work.
The Adult and Community Learning Service The Adult and Community Learning Service through its Learning and Skills Council (LSC) funded activity, and through actively securing other funds, supports learning opportunities for residents in Nottinghamshire (aged 19+).
In partnership with learners, residents, voluntary and community sector organisations, schools, colleges and a wide range of providers, we aim to:-
- develop a culture of lifelong learning in Nottinghamshire
- increase the number of adults involved in learning
- promote the voice of the learner in decision making and increase community consultation
- develop learning as a tool in the wider regeneration process.
Bridge to Work The Bridge to Work team supports a broad programme of employment and training programmes for local unemployed people, including youth training, transitional employment, and sector-based training. Many of these link with Jobcentre Plus and LSC funded programmes.
By working in partnership we aim to:-
- help those furthest removed from the labour
- market improve their work skills
- provide a skilled labour market that meets employer needs
- support local companies with recruitment and development of employees
- ensure our own workforce reflects the diversity of our County.
Employment Opportunities There are a range of posts at all levels including project/contract management, partnership workers and recruitment and training officers. Applicants would need to be committed to learning and helping disadvantaged groups, have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, a good standard of education and good IT skills.
Nottinghamshire Training Opportunity Nottinghamshire Training Opportunity assists local employers to recruit and train new employees to areas of skills shortages, whilst providing employment and training for unemployed adults.
Recruitment and Training Officers assist with advertising, recruitment and selecting the successful applicant and dealing with personnel issues. These posts require excellent communication skills and personnel/recruitment experience. Whilst no specific qualification is required, CIPD qualifications are useful. A full clean driving license and vehicle is often required.
Training Partnership The Training Partnership provides integrated, quality training for young people aged 16 - 24 years in a wide range of skills areas including advanced Modern Apprenticeships in Child Care & Education, foundation Modern Apprenticeships in Administration, Information Technology and Customer Service (NVQs at level 2&3). NVQs at level 1 are also offered in Horticulture, Construction Trades, Tyre Fitting and Car Valeting.
Training Officers require a good standard of general education, good interpersonal skills, occupational experience and trainer/assessor qualifications, plus in - depth knowledge of NVQs. A full clean driving license and vehicle is often required.
