Community group recycling

In Nottinghamshire there are over 28 registered charity groups that regularly recycle waste materials such as: paper, cans and textiles. These community groups receive a recycling credit payment for each tonne of rubbish they help to recycle.

The community recycling groups form an important part of the Integrated Waste Management Strategy for Nottinghamshire. The close links that community groups have with the public mean that they provide an ideal mechanism for raising awareness about waste management and encouraging changes in public attitudes.

As well as helping the environment, Nottinghamshire’s charities have also managed to turn recycling into a fund raising opportunity.
