Fridge and freezer recycling

If you are a resident of Nottinghamshire and have a fridge or freezer to dispose of, you can:

  • Deliver it to your nearest household waste recycling centre - residents of Nottinghamshire are able to dispose of their fridge or freezer at any of the 17 HWRCs. This is a free service to residents who wish to dispose of their own fridge or freezer
  • Collection from your home - Your local borough or district council offer a 'bulky waste' collection scheme (eg. fridges, freezers, washing machines, settee etc). There may be a charge for this service. Please contact your local borough or district council for more details
  • Please note glass fronted or glass topped commercial fridges are not accepted and must be disposed of by specialist contractor.

Fridges and freezers from trade, commercial and other organisations

Waste arising from trade, commercial and any other organisation, including fridges or freezers must be collected by a specialist waste contractor.

Both the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) provide further information and advice surrounding the regulations as well as waste disposal of fridges and freezers.
