Retail planning
Retail planning involves issues such as employment, transport and traffic and how they affect town centres. This is often linked to other land uses and activities such as leisure and cultural facilities, civic centres, offices.
Many of the features of the town centres in the county such as the market places in Mansfield, Newark and Retford are key elements in community identity and pride.
The County Structure Plan Nottinghamshire Joint Structure Plan 2002 sets out the council’s planning policies to maintain and enhance the vitality and viability of the following town centres –
Arnold, Beeston, Carlton Square, Eastwood, East Retford, Hucknall, Kimberley, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Mapperley Plains, Netherfield, Newark, Oak Tree, Stapleford, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Warsop, West Bridgford and Worksop.
