Minerals Safeguarding evidence base
In April 2009 the County Council carried out targeted consultation on the evidence base that will support future minerals safeguarding policies. These will be included in the Minerals Core Strategy and a proposed separate minerals safeguarding document.
The purpose of the consultation was to provide a check on the adequacy and accuracy of the evidence base and alternative options put forward in a draft background paper. The consultation was aimed at parties such as district councils, adjacent mineral planning authorities and the minerals industry, who may have information that can help improve the evidence base before it is subject to wider consultation currently scheduled for spring 2010.
