Consultation on planning applications

The Council’s policy on consulting on planning applications is set out in the County Council’s Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which was adopted in January 2007. The SCI can be viewed on this website by following the relevant links.

Commenting on planning applications

In reaching a decision on a planning application the County Council takes into account the views of people who may be affected by the proposal. As such, your comments are welcomed and will be considered. You may wish to support an application or raise objections if you consider, for instance, it will have an adverse affect on your property, your wellbeing or the local environment.

The County Council may only take into account relevant planning issues, such as whether the development complies with the Development Plan for the area or if it will cause a disturbance to local residents through noise, odour or vehicle movements etc. We may not take into account non-planning issues such as the impact of a proposal on property values or boundary or other legal disputes.

You should note that comments you make cannot be treated as confidential as under relevant legislation all letters received will be placed on a file which is available for inspection by members of the public, or the applicant. For details on how to view applications and make comments on them please see below.

How to view and comment on planning applications

Details of applications determined by the Development Control Team of Nottinghamshire County Council are available to view through this website. The information is updated daily and is taken directly from the section's own database.

Many applications also have attachments for you to view and/or download, e.g. location plans/decision notices/conditions.  All files attached to applications are in Adobe PDF format (download Acrobat).

Copies of Decision Notices are available to view through the Recently Determined Applications link. The Decision Notice is a digital rather than scanned version therefore it does not contain a signature. However, it is an exact and reliable copy of the actual Decision Notice and is acceptable as proof of a decision.

There are several ways you can access the application details kept on this website. You can search either by keyword or location, view a list of applications open for consultation, other pending applications or recently decided applications. To view details of applications administered by the districts and boroughs in Nottinghamshire please refer to the relevant council.

If you wish to comment on an application still within its public consultation period you can do so online through the list of applications open for public consultation. If the consultation period has expired please contact us using e-mail: development.planning@nottscc.gov.uk, or write to:
