Monitoring and Enforcement
Site monitoring and enforcement is carried out in accordance with Nottinghamshire County Council's Enforcement Policy and Protocol, approved in February 2009. View the Monitoring and Enforcement Policy [PDF 244KB]
The approach taken reflects the Government's "Enforcement Concordat" (March 1998), which advocates principles of good enforcement. The protocol lays down the agreed course of action to be followed by staff in the Development Control Team, in conjunction with Legal Services staff, when dealing with alleged breaches of planning control.
Monitoring is undertaken in order to:
- Ensure that unauthorised development is cleared or brought under proper control
- Ensure compliance with conditions attached to planning permissions and legal agreements.
The development control monitoring and enforcement staff regularly monitor all sites and deal with any complaints that arise in line with the enforcement policy and protocol.
