Workshops

Workshops can be booked for private groups, and also form part of the Country Parks Events listings.

  • Bright sparks - learn ancient and historic firelighting techniques.
  • Dyes and Spinning - History of spinning and dyeing, and cloth manufacture.
  • From sting to string - learn how to make nettles into cordage; encouraging people to see there is more to nettles than their sting; other historic natural materials are also used to make string.
  • Prehistoric pots - learn the origin of ceramics, and make your own bowl.
  • Breadmaking - learn about the origins of farming, combined with some experimental archaeology.
  • From Sheep to Sheet - History of spinning and dyeing.

Seminars, training days, and talks

We have given  a number of lectures at the University of Nottingham and the Ironbridge Institute, as part of various conferences.

We have also given talks to groups including the Council for British Archaeology (East Midlands), Lincolnshire Archaeology Society FLARE, the University of the Thrid Age, and local archaeology and history societies.
