Archaeology
Archaeological records Our Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) catalogues and describes the archaeology of Nottinghamshire. It includes thousands of records and information about archaeological sites and features of local historic interest in every parish.
Development consultations If you're putting together a development proposal and need advice about any archaeological implications, we can help. Archaeological planning issues are also raised in the Minerals Local Plan and the Development Control process.
Advice If you need advice about the care and management of archaeological sites, or if you've discovered an archaeological object or site, please contact us and we'll try and help you.
Research and projects We aim to encourage archaeological research and the development of partnerships to promote understanding and appreciation of the historic character of every area. To this end, we communicate with national heritage agencies, local societies, groups and individuals.
We can advise and assist in projects such as village maps or local heritage initiatives. For more information please visit our research and projects page.
Community Archaeology Nottinghamshire Community Archaeology offers a range of opportunities for people to get involved in aspects of their local heritage. We are committed to improving access to heritage and helping communities to become directly involved. The aim of our volunteer projects is to involve communities in all aspects of heritage discovery, interpretation, and protection. We also aim to provide training and education, for groups and for individuals.
