Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing our world today. It is likely to affect all of us, but the good news is that we can all be part of the solution.

The Council is a signatory to The Nottingham Declaration of Climate Change, see www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/nottingham. This commits the Council to tackling the causes and effects of a climate change and to encouraging all sectors in our local community to take the opportunity to adapt to the impacts of climate change, reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions and make public their commitment to action.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s carbon management plan [PDF 427KB] pdf logo sets out how the Council plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from its buildings and operations.

Looking more widely, the Council is working with organisations across Nottinghamshire to raise awareness of climate change, take action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and adapt to become better able to live with the effects of a changing climate. A climate change partnership is being developed to support this work.
