Standard administrative boundaries available from ONS (examples in brackets).

  • Nations  (England & Wales)
  • Regions  (East Midlands)
  • Counties  (Nottinghamshire)
  • Unitary areas  (Nottingham)
  • Metropolitan areas  (Merseyside)
  • Districts  (Ashfield)
  • Wards *  (Hucknall Central)
  • Parishes  (Awsworth)

* Wards are those introduced in May 2003 (except Bassetlaw: May 2002)

The County Council will make information available for:

  • Districts, wards and parishes in the County and City, and also
  • A range of areas of interest to local people, for example, Hucknall, Newark, and Retford.

These will appear here on our web site under Census results page as they are prepared.

Below this, a flexible geographic base of 'building bricks' will be used, known as Output Areas (OAs). These are based on postcodes and independent of the collection (enumeration) areas, unlike in 1991. They will be produced on a 'systematic' basis across the country, not tailored to our own, or any other local requirements.  These will be available from ONS, and used by the County Council.

If you have an interest in an area not covered above, profiles for ‘user defined’ areas are available from ONS, and from the County Council, for areas within the County.
