Councillor Keith Girling is Nottinghamshire County Council’s Business Engagement Champion. His role is:
- To create effective links with all sections of the business community
- To improve communication between the County Council and the local business community
- To ensure businesses are made aware of County Council activity which affects them
- To ensure that the authority is aware of the issues affecting local businesses and, where possible, advocating on their behalf
- To ensure views of the local business community are considered at the appropriate stages of any County Council consultation exercise.
This is being achieved by:
- Engaging positively with businesses at networking events, business clubs, business awards and one-to-one visits, to seek their views on the economy and the support available to them when doing business with Nottinghamshire County Council.
- Meetings with the Corporate Leadership Team to discuss his role, the expectations and to feedback on business issues.
- Chairing the Nottinghamshire Business Engagement Group.
