*Cancelled* What Makes a Spider Fly?

Monday 24 April 2017 7pm to 9.30pm Forest Lodge Inn £5.00

Unfortunately this event has been cancelled.

Whether you love or hate spiders join us for our in depth look in to the world of Spiders with leading researcher from the University of Nottingham's Spiderlab Dr Sara Goodacre.

Dispersal shapes important processes such as the rate at which species colonise in new areas. In this talk Dr Sara will present work from her lab on how linyphiid spiders move through landscapes that are often patchy and, from their point of view, full of hazards.

One of the most important ways in which they moveis through flying, using a silken sail that is caught by the wind. If you've ever wondered how far individual spiders can fly - and what determines whether individual spiders can fly - and what determines whether individuals stay or go - then come along to this talk to find out.
