Exhibition: Anne Frank + You

Friday 6 - Thursday 26 November 2015 10am to 4pm Mansfield Central Library Free

An exhibition of work inspired by Anne's Diary.

This thought provoking exhibition is about the life and time of Anne Frank. It also presents contemporary issues, such as racism in football, gang violence in the UK and Malala Yousafazi’s campaign for the education of girls. It brings Anne Frank’s voice firmly into the 21st Century, and includes interviews with modern day British teenagers.

The exhibition includes:

• A look at Anne’s childhood, set against the rise of the Nazis and the Holocaust

• An almost life size replica of Anne’s room in the secret annexe

• The chilling genocide tunnel with powerful film footage

• The Anne Frank photo album, with photos of Anne and her sister Margot

• Replica artefacts from Anne’s life and the Holocaust

• Contemporary stories exploring how the issues that affected Anne are still relevant today

• A chance to declare a commitment to stand up for what is right and speak out against what is unfair and wrong by signing the Anne Frank Declaration

Schools are invited to attend the exhibition and will be given:

• An immersive experience including a guided tour

• Additional context and knowledge about the themes

• A chance to reflect

The exhibition links to the History, English and Religious Studies curriculum, as well as contributing to young people’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It draws on themes from Anne's diary while focusing on related issues in modern society, creating a powerful journey of self-exploration for visitors.

Admission is free and slots are available 9.30 – 11.30am and 12.30 – 2.30pm, Monday to Friday. Each group is limited to 30 students.
