Nottinghamshire Sports Award 2012

The annual awards are an opportunity to highlight key achievements of individual sportspeople, teams, clubs, coaches and volunteers.

Around 480 people enjoyed an evening to remember at the 21st Nottinghamshire Sports Awards hosted by Nottinghamshire County Council. 

This year 45 Olympic torch-bearers and Games Makers were also invited to recognise their contributions to London 2012.

Club of the Year

Winner: Sutton Sting Ice Hockey Club

Nominated: Beeston Hockey Club, Hockey;  Gedling Southbank Football Club, Football; Newark Castle Cycling Club, Cycling; Worksop Harriers Athletics, Club Athletics

Community Coach of the Year

Winner: Dean Hughes, Triathlon

Nominated: Clive Morris, Hockey; Ian Sturgess, Football; Scott Chadburn, Football; Ted Grey, Athletics

Disabled Sports Person of the Year

Winner: Richard Whitehead MBE, Athletics

Nominated: Charlotte Henshaw, Swimming; Natalie Blake, Power Lifting; Oliver Hynd, Swimming; Sophie Wells, Para Dressage

Roll of Honour

Every year Nottinghamshire residents who have devoted their lives to Nottinghamshire sport are nominated for entry onto the prestigous Roll of Honour.

In 2012 the inductees were:
