From Tuxford in the north to West Bridgford in the south – the Olympic Torch was carried through twelve towns and villages in Nottinghamshire before reaching Nottingham City Centre on 28 June 2012.
The London Olympic Games Organising Committee (LOGOC) chose the communities which will see the Olympic flame pass through them. The flame will travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK before making its way to the Olympic Stadium for the official start to the London 2012 Olympic Games on 27 July 2012.

The torch's arrival in Nottingham City Centre signalled the start of a celebratory evening event.
Coun John Cottee, Nottinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Community, said: "What a wonderful honour to be chosen as one of the places the Olympic flame will pass through. This is a chance for Nottinghamshire people to be part of history and take part in a once in a lifetime event.”
Coun Cottee added: "The excitement will start building over the next few months and I’m sure the communities will be organising their own special ways of marking the occasion.
"Taking part in an Olympics on home soil will be special and I hope that people across the county will show their support for the torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic Flame.”
On 29 June the Torch Relay set off through the centre of Nottingham, beginning its journey at Nottingham Castle. Full details are available on Nottingham City Council's website.
