Lead Local Flood Authority
Nottinghamshire County Council is now a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and has new powers and duties for managing flooding from local sources, namely Ordinary Watercourses, surface water (overland runoff) and groundwater in the administrative area of Nottinghamshire.

Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment
Nottinghamshire County Council was required by the Flood Risk Regulations (2009) to prepare a Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA). The PFRA is a high level screening exercise to identify areas where there is significant flood risk in national terms for reporting to Europe (known as Flood Risk Areas).

Local Flood Risk Management Strategy
Flooding has had a significant impact on local communities in the County in the past, and the County Council is currently developing a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy which will set out how organisations and communities should work together to manage this risk.

Ordinary Watercourses Land Drainage Consent
As a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), we are responsible for granting consent to individuals, group of individuals, companies and public bodies, who wish to carry out changes to an ordinary watercourse that may affect flow or flood risk.
