Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future

Cycling strategy and policies

Cycling strategy

The Council is committed to increasing the safety and number of cycling trips, particularly journeys to work. Our Cycling Strategy [PDF] sets out how we will work towards these goals and this is the current strategy as of 2013.

Cycling design guide

The policies in our strategy are backed up by our Cycling Design Guide, which our engineers and planners use when designing new cycling facilities. The Cycling Design Guide was first launched in 2004. The guide is compiled from good practice, standards and guidance on cycling developed both nationally and locally.

The document has been updated to account for developments in cycling design and policy and lessons learned since the original guide was launched and is the current guide as of 2013.

Future updates to the guide will be published here. If you email us with your contact details we will notify you when any updates are issued so that you can download the latest version. If you have any difficulties with downloading the document, wish to request the guide in an alternative format or have any other queries please contact us by email: urban.cycling@nottscc.gov.uk.
