Determined admission arrangements 2017-2018

All admission authorities must determine admission arrangements by 28 February every year, even if they have not changed from previous years and a consultation has not been required.

Nottinghamshire County Council's determined admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools on 22 February 2016. These arrangements will be used to allocate places for those parents who applied on time for places in 2017-2018.

Following a ruling by the Schools Adjudicator on 31 January 2017 the waiting list held after the national offer day (18 April 2017) for oversubscribed schools will be held in accordance with the revised criteria as agreed at the Children and Young People’s committee meeting 20 February 2017. Late applications and changes to preference will also be considered according to the revised criteria.

Own admission authority schools - foundation, voluntary aided, trust or academy schools

It is the responsibility of all admission authorities to ensure that admission arrangements comply with the School Admissions Code. For own admission authority schools, the governing body is the admissions authority and it determines its admission arrangements annually.

Objections to admission arrangements

Once all arrangements have been determined, arrangements can be objected to and referred to the Schools Adjudicator whose decision is binding and enforceable. Objections to admission arrangements for entry in September 2017 must be referred to the Adjudicator by 15 May 2016. The Schools Adjudicator may investigate the admission arrangements of any school that the Adjudicator considers do not or may not comply with the mandatory requirements of the School Admissions Code or the law.
