Determined admission arrangements 2015-2016

All admission authorities must determine admission arrangements by 15 April every year, even if they have not changed from previous years and a consultation has not been required.

Nottinghamshire County Council determined the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools on 17 March 2014.

A new School Admissions Code came into force on 19 December 2014 that required admission authorities to vary their arrangements to give immediate effect to the mandatory requirements of the Code.

The Chief Adjudicator has confirmed our request to vary arrangements in respect of all year round waiting lists is agreed as this gives effect to a mandatory requirement of the School Admission Code (as described in 3.6 of the Code) which ensures arrangements are clear, fair and transparent for parents.

Waiting lists for year groups reception to year 5 will now be implemented for admission applications in September 2014. Applications for September 2014 have been accepted from the beginning of the summer term, we are now able to write to parents who were refused places for their children at community and voluntary controlled schools to advise that their child will now be placed on a waiting list. The admissions team are working through these applications and will send a letter to parents affected. Waiting lists for other year groups (reception, year 3, year 7 and year 10 at intake) remain the same and will continue to be held in partnership with own admission authority schools until 31 December 2014.

The information available to parents on our public website has been updated, along with the Admissions to schools: guide for parents for 2015-2016 to reflect the change.

Own admission authority schools - foundation, voluntary aided, trust or academy schools

It is the responsibility of all admission authorities to ensure that admission arrangements comply with the School Admissions Code. For own admission authority schools, the governing body is the admissions authority and it determines its admission arrangements annually.

Determined admission arrangements will be posted here as they are received by the County Council.
