Nottinghamshire County Council provides a wide range of centres and resources to support outdoor and environmental education for young people across Nottinghamshire. The facilities and opportunities are also available for groups and individuals from outside of the county.
The provision includes two residential outdoor and environmental centres in the Peak District and environmental education day centres Perlethorpe, Brackenhurst, Sherwood and The Mill Adventure Base. They offer unique, accessible and affordable opportunities, covering the broad spectrum of outdoor adventures and environmental education. All of the centres are staffed by qualified and experienced specialists and are operated to rigorous health and safety standards.
Outdoor and Environmental Education can offer quality facilities, programmes and support for a diverse range of groups and individuals, from schools wanting a day or residential programme, youth, church and other groups needing accommodation, or families planning a celebration or weekend away. In addition highly qualified and experienced staff can provide support for Duke of Edinburgh groups across Nottinghamshire and national training courses in outdoor leadership qualifications. Specialist groups will find the residential centres are ideally located for a few days climbing, mountain biking or walking in the Peak District National Park.
We offer a wide variety of adventure activities to suit all abilities and requirements that support the National Curriculum. Choose from a mixture of land, water and off-site activities.
Looking for holiday clubs with a difference? Our holiday clubs are the perfect chance to try out lots of new things. We provide all safety equipment and participants will be supervised throughout. Our qualified instructors will keep everyone safe, active and having fun.
We work closely with schools and groups to provide a wide variety of training and individually tailored courses for young people and adults to experience quality outdoor learning experiences. Programmes aim to enrich the curriculum and help learners reach their potential through positive engagement with the education process, increasing confidence, group awareness, healthy activity and fun.

Employers are responsible for the provision and implementation of health and safety procedures, guidance and specific advice. All Local Authority maintained schools must operate to guidance, standards and approval requirements issued by the Outdoor Education Advisor.
