Researching historic buildings

Sites of historic interest

The county’s heritage assets are all recorded in the Historic Environment Record. This includes:

  • listed buildings
  • conservation areas
  • registered historic parks and gardens
  • scheduled monuments
  • archaeological sites and finds.

There are also villages, parklands and other historic buildings of local heritage interest.

Planning advice

Our conservation officers can provide technical advice on listed building and conservation area related planning matters to district and county planners.

We initiate research and encourage regeneration through initiatives, grant schemes, external funding and partnerships.

We can also provide advice about the care and management of archaeological sites.

Museums

Nottinghamshire has a great wealth of interesting museums to visit and explore.
