Enquiries

Archive enquiries can be made by letter or email.

Our staff are able to provide basic information about our holdings by telephone, but more detailed enquiries can only be responded to as written enquiries.

Enquiries about the nature of our holdings and suggested avenues of research will be answered free of charge. We aim to reply within three working days. Please include your postal address if you are requesting material to be sent to you.

For information on requesting copies of documents including charges please visit our Reprographic Services pages.

Research

We charge a fee to carry out research in our holdings to provide specific information.  Charges still apply even if the result is minimal or negative, as a search has still been carried out.  Read further information about our Research Service including our fees and order form.

Most records are available for general access but a few are restricted in whole or in part because information in them is exempt information under the Freedom of Information Act or the Environmental Information Regulations. Restrictions are usually indicated in our catalogue and will be reviewed on request. There is no charge for this review, but searches in restricted access records are subject to a charge.

Enquiries and requests for review of restricted access records should be sent to the Team Manager Archives and Local Studies.
