Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future
.

Disruption to services

From time to time some of our services are disrupted. This may be down to severe weather, staffing issues, or health and safety concerns. We always try to keep this to an absolute minimum.

Schools

Our school closures page lists any schools reported closed by severe weather or unforeseen problems.

Registration

Eastwood Register Office

Eastwood Register Office has had to close temporarily due to ongoing IT problems.

Appointments will take place at Hucknall Register Office until the issues have been resolved. The Eastwood registrar will be based at Hucknall on the same opening days as at the Eastwood office – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 4.30pm.

Libraries

Closures

  • Newark library's closure has been extended to allow for further work to take place to completely update the whole look and feel of the library.

Newark Library will now reopen at 9am on 19 May 2014.

The library closed on Christmas Eve and was initially set to reopen on May 1 following an upgrade of lighting, but the County Council has been able to carry out some additional work to modernise the library and avoid the need for a further period of closure in the near future.

Rattle, Rhyme and Roll sessions and the Work Club will continue to take place at The Newark Academy until Newark Library reopens.

For more information on alternative provision see the Newark Library page.

  • Ladybrook Library will be closed on Thursday 22 May 2014 as the library is being used as a polling station.
  • Gedling Library will be closed on Thursday 22 May 2014 as the library is being used as a polling station.

Alternative facilities

When libraries are forced to close you may be able to use one of the 60 other libraries in Nottinghamshire.

You can also renew books:

  • online (you will need to have your library card and PIN number)
  • by phone, tel: 0845 3304435
