Disruption to services

For Christmas opening times of council services, see our Christmas pages.

From time to time some of our services are disrupted. This may be down to severe weather, staffing issues, or health and safety concerns. We always try to keep this to an absolute minimum.

Country Parks

Dob Park, A611 / Washdyke Lane near Hucknall

Forestry operations have started on site this week to remove larch from the woodland plantations. Footpaths around site will be closed to the Public for the duration of the felling works to maintain public safety. Felling will commence on Wednesday 17th December up until  Christmas Eve. Work will start again in the New Year to complete any remaining felling and remove timber from site. We will endeavour to minimise disruption where possible and apologise for any inconvenience.

Schools

Our school closures page lists any schools reported closed by severe weather or unforeseen problems. Parents should contact their children’s school for more detailed information on a possible closure.

Archives

Nottinghamshire Archives will temporarily close to the public from Saturday 18 October. During the closure you can still contact staff by email, phone or post to get some documents reproduced.

Libraries

Closures

  • Arnold Library will temporarily close from 7pm on Tuesday 23 December. This is to allow the library to be refurbished and modernised. The library will re-open in summer 2015.

During the closure, the mobile library will be available in the adjacent car park on Saturdays from 9.30am to 3pm. Opening hours at a number of libraries in the surrounding area including Carlton, Calverton, Woodthorpe and Mapperley will be extended.

Ahead of the temporary closure, Arnold Library users will also be able to borrow up to 36 items to cover the period of the refurbishment. The standard is usually 24 items.

  • Bingham Library is temporarily closed and will re-open at 9am on Friday 9 January 2015. This is to enable major improvement work to take place. For more information see the Bingham Library page.

  • Sutton in Ashfield Library will be closed for works from 5.30pm Tuesday 23 December and will reopen on Saturday 17 January 2015. For more information see the Sutton Library page.

Registration offices

Hucknall Registration Office is moving from its current venue in the Under One Roof building on Vine Terrace to Ashfield District Council offices on Watnall Road next week (week commencing Monday 8 December).

Residents will need to go to the Eastwood office on Nottingham Road in the town until the new office is open on Tuesday 16 December.

Normal opening hours at the Hucknall office of Thursday and Friday from 9am to 4.30pm will resume once open.

The new office has improved public and disabled access, and a dedicated waiting area.
