Social care for children

We support and provide a range of services to help children, young people and their families. The help offered depends on the individual situation.

Families

We support families when they are experiencing difficulties.

Social workers - assess a family's needs to see what help is needed. They also offer advice and guidance and organise the services you receive.

Family resource workers - work with children aged 8 to 18 and their families where there is a serious risk of family breakdown.

Benefits advice - support to make sure you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to claim.

Looked After children

'Looked After' means cared for by the Council. This is support for children who cannot live with their own family, either temporarily or permanently.

Looked after children's care plans are regularly reviewed by an Independent Reviewing Officer. Read the annual report of the IRO Service [PDF], which is part of the Nottinghamshire Independent Chair Service

Targeted youth support
