Free childcare
The Two Year Old entitlement is set up to deliver free childcare for 219 two year olds in the most disadvantaged communities, offering ten hours per week for 38 weeks per year.
Closing the gap
The Two Year Old entitlement will target the most vulnerable children with the clear aim to close the gap in attainment between these children and other children in the local authority.
Families will need to meet set criteria to demonstrate eligibility.
Aims
This pilot aims to:
-
improve learning outcomes and close the attainment gap
-
support parents in their parenting role
-
improve outcomes for parents, by supporting them to take up training or go to work
-

-
ensure there is a seamless transition from the 2 Year Old entitlement to the 3 and 4 Year Old Nursery Education Funding.
