We need emergency foster carers who are able to foster a young person in crisis, often at short notice. These young people (typically aged 10 and over) need carers to help them rebuild their family relationships and enable them to return home, or to move on to a long-term foster home.
Emergency fostering involves sharing your life with children and young people in difficult circumstances, helping them to feel part of your family and offering support to move on from your care after a short period of time.
We are looking for individuals who have significant experience of working with or caring for other people's children, preferably teenagers, in a professional capacity or as an experienced foster carer. You will need to be home-based and able to provide the young person with a room of their own. In addition, you must be:

Good in a crisis

Skilled and creative at managing difficult behaviour

Effective at communicating with other professionals to make and act on plans quickly

Flexible and resilient in coping with the circumstances of each individual placement

Able to 'let go' of young people who are leaving your family after establishing relationships and security.
Emergency foster carers receive a skills payment in addition to the fostering allowances. Whilst approved to foster by Nottinghamshire COunty Council, foster carers are not employed by the council. Effectively, your status would be self-employed: consequently you will be responsible for making your own arrangements in terms of income tax and national insurance contributions.
Training and support will be provided.
