Short-term support is for when you need that little bit of extra support to get on with life. It is especially suitable for:
- older or disabled people who feel vulnerable or have lost confidence living at home
- people who have had an accident or illness that means they struggle to do the things they used to do
- when you have been discharged from hospital and need a bit of extra support to help you get independent again.
There are many organisations in the community that can offer short-term support. This could include personal care and help with practical jobs around the home. See our community support page for more information.
The Short-Term Assessment and Re-ablement Team (START) can work with you to regain the skills and confidence to live as independently as possible. It can help with tasks such as getting dressed, using the bathroom, getting around your home and cooking.
