What is the Night Response Service?
The Night Response Service involves carers being available through the night to respond to emergency call-outs. They will be able to assist with a wide range of needs including:
-
personal care such as incontinence issues
-
dealing with sickness or medical conditions
-
prompting to take critical medication.
The service will also be able to respond to alerts about falls or people with dementia wandering away from home at night, which are generated by sensors in properties.
How does it work?
The service will use a Telecare system. You will be able to call the service by pressing your pendant or pulling an alarm cord.
The staff receiving your call will respond in a variety of ways as appropriate. This includes:
- giving advice and reassurance
- alerting a nominated carer
- send home care support
- calling for a GP or emergency services.
Who is eligible for the service?
To be eligible for the service, you must have had a community care assessment that shows an occasional night time personal care and social need that would otherwise be met within residential care or by a waking night service.
How much does it cost?
There is a small fee. However this is taken into account with your contributions to your personal budget.
