Consumer advice

We work in partnership with the Citizens Advice consumer service, which provides free, confidential and impartial advice on consumer issues. It can help if you need:

  • advice before you purchase goods or pay for services
  • advice about resolving an issue or dispute with a retailer or trader.

Advice sheets

We have produced some advice sheets for common consumer issues:

Neighbourhood Alert

The Neighbourhood Alert system aims to keep residents informed and involved in policing issues and notified about crime and crime trends in their area. Messages contain crime prevention advice, crime appeals, public order or other information on policing matters.

For further information and to sign up visit the Neighbourhood Alert website.

Loan sharks

Loan sharks are illegal moneylenders who do not have a licence to lend money. Find out how to spot a loan shark and how you can report one on the GOV.UK website.
