Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future

Zebra crossings

There are over 100 pedestrian and cycle crossings in the county, designed to make it safer and easier for cyclists and pedestrians to cross the road.

There are several different types of crossing:

  • Zebra crossings where you wait at the side of the road until vehicles stop
  • Pelican crossings where you press a button and the traffic is stopped for you
  • Toucan crossings which are designed along similar lines to pelican crossings but allow cyclists and pedestrians to cross together safely

Several equestrian crossings have also been built to help horseriders cross busy A roads safely.

If you spot a faulty light on a pedestrian crossing, please report it to us and we will arrange for it to be repaired within 24 hours.
