Verification number

Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions and Directions) Regulations 2000

Under the above regulations, local authorities are required to publish the “verification number” which is the minimum number of signatures required on petitions requesting a referendum on the adoption of executive arrangements including an elected mayor.

For the year 2010/11 the verification number for Nottinghamshire County Council is 30,015.
