Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future

Sustainable development

Sustainable development means making sure that the way we live today doesn't cause problems for future generations. This ideal is at the heart of the County Council's development plans and the decisions that our Councillors make at Cabinet and Full Council.

Our Sustainable Developer Guide demonstrates sustainable choices, which respect the environment and take a long-term perspective.

The guide offers advice to developers and their advisers on the planning, design, construction and maintenance of buildings and home extensions. It also considers how the wider impacts of development can be managed, for example waste and transport issues.
