Sure Start

Sure Start is the government's programme to support children, parents and communities through the integration of early education, childcare and health and family support services.

We focus our work on disadvantaged areas to make sure children get the best start in life.

We do this by:

  • Co-ordinating schools and childcare services to help identify children’s specific needs early on
  • Working with businesses to provide more childcare places to help families get back to work to provide a better future for their children
  • Providing training courses to provide people with the right skills for local employers.
