Special schools

Most children with special educational needs are taught in mainstream schools, and we give schools extra money to help them.

However, if your child is given a statement of special educational needs – a formal document outlining the particular needs your child requires - they can attend one of the county’s 11 special schools.

They offer specialist support for children with moderate to severe learning and physical disabilities.
