In exceptional circumstances local communities can ask for a road to be closed for a village festival or major event.
The decision whether or not to close the road will depend if a suitable diversion route is available.
Closing a road costs the County Council money to pay for legal fees, newspaper adverts and the installation of temporary signs. All these costs have to be met by the event organisers who want to close the road.
If you are planning an event which may affect public roads or pavements, it's important you let us know as early as possible. More information is available by following the link below.
