Nottinghamshire’s history is rich and varied and includes Saxon villages along the River Trent to Newark castle’s role in the Civil War.
Making sure that our history is safeguarded for everyone to enjoy is the job of the County Council’s Heritage team.
The team can advise on restoration work, surveys and new building sites to make sure important archaeological remains won’t be destroyed. They also give advice to planners and carry out fieldwork and research.
