Flooding advice

The Environment Agency state that over five million people are at risk from flooding in the UK. We have put together some information so you can find out if you are at risk and how you can prepare yourself for flooding. View flooding advice. In an emergency, ring 999.

When safe to do so, please also report flooding events to the County Council online or by telephone on tel: 0300 500 80 80.

Nottinghamshire County Council is now a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and has new powers and duties for managing flooding from local sources, namely Ordinary Watercourses, surface water (overland runoff) and groundwater in the administrative area of Nottinghamshire. The Environment Agency operate a 24 hour Floodline containing recorded flood warning information, as well as the option to speak to an operator for advice 24 hours a day. Tel: 0845 988 1188.

Flooded roads

The County Council is responsible for the County's roads. If a road frequently floods or has very large puddles, known as ponding, contact us on
tel: 0300 500 80 80. We can check the drains in the area and clear them of any tree roots and rubbish that might be causing a blockage.

Flooded sewers

If you think the flooding in your home or garden contains foul water from a broken sewer, please contact Severn Trent Water: www.stwater.co.uk
