Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future
.

Financial accounting at the County Council

The Annual Budget Book shows how the County Council will spend money on local services during the financial year. Copies of the book are available online, from council offices and in local libraries.

The Council also produces the Statement of Accounts which shows:

  • what we have spent your money on
  • how much money we have in reserve
  • our assets and liabilities
  • the turnover and surplus for the parts of the council which operate like businesses.

The statement is a technical document designed to fulfill the needs of strict Government auditing procedures and can be difficult to interpret. It reads like a giant receipt for all the goods and services that the council has bought over the past 12 months. The statement is available for inspection at local libraries.
