Development control

The development control team is responsible for reviewing planning applications that have been submitted to the County Council for County Councillors to consider at the Planning Committee meeting.

The County Council considers major planning applications for:

  • landfill sites
  • new roads and schools
  • quarries
  • colliery reclamation schemes
  • incinerators.

Planning applications for house extensions are considered by local district councils.
