Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the variety of life and includes all plants and animals and the places where they live. It includes the whole of the natural world, from the common place to the critically endangered. Nottinghamshire’s biodiversity ranges from otters to owls to oak trees, and includes habitats such as rivers, heathland, grassland and woodland.

The County Council carries out work that benefits biodiversity, and is a member of the Biodiversity Action Group – a partnership of organisations involved in nature conservation across the county.
